About Finca La Bonita

Wendy Margoth Hernández Alva, the youngest of her twelve siblings, is an enthusiastic woman full of joy, love and dedication for everything she does.

She is a struggling woman who spends most of her time day after day harvesting coffee on her farm “La Bonita” located in San Martín, Todos Santos, Huehuetenango department in Guatemala.

From a very young age, Wendy became her father, who was her best friend, one of the first inhabitants of Huehuetenango to bet on coffee, since all her neighbors and acquaintances thought that this would never bear fruit. Wendy saw how her father and her brothers visited their plot every day and worked on it, Wendy, always very curious, wanted to participate in caring for and working on the plot, but her father was afraid that being the smallest something could happen to her, since the plot was very sloping and you could get hurt, hit or bitten by an animal.

Over the years, unfortunately, his parents passed away.

This is how Wendy, over the years, grew up and saw her siblings become adults, with more responsibilities and each one with their families. This is how she made the decision to take care of the plot that her father had left and for which she worked with so much love, sweat and much effort. She never thought of selling her plot, since since she was a child she saw how her father dedicated so much time, so it did not seem right to sell it, she had great hope that there was something very special in her father's legacy.

One of the biggest challenges that Wendy faced in the process of taking over the plot that her father had left behind was to be given her place as a woman in the world of coffee, since she was one of the first women in Huehuetenango to take over. of a plot.

Wendy, thanks to the help of her Association of Tineco Farmers "ADAT", learned much more in depth about the process of growing coffee and how it should be cared for and treated correctly, thanks to them and their interest in continuing to learn and develop in the field world of coffee. Wendy now knows much more and one of her daily goals is to keep learning more and more every day.

What makes Wendy's coffee more than special, without counting how much effort there is behind it, is its fruity flavor, its humidity of 10.5%, it has a healthy cup in its cupping and the type of land and the climate of its plot contributes great benefits when growing your coffee.
