About Finca Los Pinos
Elda Argueta is a coffee producer from "Los Pinos” farm located in the municipality of Unión Cantinil in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala. Elda has a plot of approximately 923 square meters with a biodiversity of flora and fauna, including a variety of trees and wild animals. The region in which the farm is located is characterized by a cool subtropical climate with high mountains and an altitude of around 1,500 to 1,800 meters above sea level. The climate along with the fertile, loamy and sandy soil, rich in nutrients, allows the coffee that Elda grows to be truly unique.
Elda is an empowered and hard-working visionary. She is a very cheerful and intelligent coffee producer and single mother of a six-year-old boy who gives her unconditional support and inspires her every day to keep going. Elda started managing her farm along with her brother Erguin Argueta, when their parents emigrated to the United States. Over time, they have tried to expand their farm and improve the quality of their coffee through agricultural activities, harvesting of fruits, wet and dry processing, and international business distribution. The coffee that Elda produces is a certified Arabica variety coffee exported in parchment, through organizations such as the grassroots organization "Asociación de Agricultores Tinecos" (ADAT) and "CODECH" that export her coffee to the United States and around the world.
Elda’s coffee has been entered into Speciality Coffee contests, with more than 66 samples. Her coffee has placed third at the CODECH level and in second place at the organizational level winning her cash prizes that have helped her invest in her farm and continue to prosper. This has allowed her product to be one of the most valued in international coffee tasting contests that potential buyers visit. Buyers are struck by the quality, acidity and notes of chocolate and nuts, creating a group of loyal customers who buy Elda’s coffee year after year.
Elda has always wanted her consumers to view her coffee as one of the best in the world and admire her for it. Through her product she hopes to convey feelings of happiness, joy and pride to her customers. Elda has shown that she is always willing to learn by participating in empowerment and leadership workshops such as "Grounds for Empowerment" that have helped her train as a producer She is constantly continuing to broaden her breadth of knowledge and is currently learning about coffee cupping. Finally, it can be said that Elda Argueta always seeks to give her best to create a legacy and provide one of the best coffees in the world.
