About Finca El Solar

The Finca El Solar located in Huehuetenango, Guatemala has a flat terrain with an elevation of 1,800 meters above sea level. The property has a type of soil rich in nutrients, black and brown soil, around peach, avocado and banana trees, among others. The variety of coffee on the property is green and red Pache with a score of 84 points, evaluated by the National Coffee Association (Anacafé) in Guatemala. The coffee has characteristics of a healthy, hard, chocolatey, sweet, very balanced coffee, typical of Guatemalan lands, which is cultivated with semi-organic agricultural practices through a process of compost based on organic waste to fertilize each plant of coffee.

El Solar was born in the eighties, thanks to the effort and work of Victoriano Jerónimo Ahilón, grandfather of Amelia Jerónimo Ramos. The property was inherited from Amelia's parents, which has allowed her from a very young age to have direct contact with the processes involved in growing coffee and witness the results of the effort and work of her grandparents and parents.

One of the prides of Amelia's family is her family work to harvest her coffee, which seeks to add value to her harvest by using an orderly method of collection to pick ripe coffee, which is meticulously selected and collected, evaluated to be worked. Then, a washing process is carried out so that the coffee is ground, dried and stored. Finally, the peculiar parchment coffee is the result of the efforts of her and Amelia's family.

Amelia's work at Finca El Solar allowed her to fall in love with coffee, its smell, its appearance and find her passion for it. With her love for coffee, El Solar, her family, God, hopes to continue working in the coffee industry in the long term.
