Did you know that an estimated 90% of Nicaraguan coffee farmers are small-scale producers?

Smallholder farmers, who produce relatively small volumes of coffee and rely upon that coffee as a main livelihood activity, are especially susceptible to the consequences of low prices. Women like Alexa from Finca San Antonio are involved in every step of the bean-to-export process!

At GFE, we are working to incorporate financial planning and price transparency into our practices, including discussions about the Specialty Coffee Transaction Guide with the women we work with.
