About Finca Montealegre

Finca Montealegre is located on El Balsamo Mountain Range of El Salvador. Initially a bálsamo plantation, Montealegre became a coffee farm in the 1950s. Farm owners Jorge and Ana María have implemented fully organic methods since 2012. This not only highlights their commitment to quality but also emphasizes their commitment to their employees, customers, the community, and most importantly the environment.

In a country where coffee farmers are abandoning coffee farms due to low market prices and development is overtaking fertile land, we need farms like Finca Montealegre to protect the environment, grow delicious coffee, and create opportunities for future generations to get excited to grow coffee. Finca Montealegre is rich in biodiversity of various types of plants.

"For us coffee is life, it's part of our culture, it's part of sustainable progress, and we are proud that now it can be enjoyed by people all over,” said Ana María.

A key member of Finca Montealegre’s leadership team is Roxana Beltran.

Roxana was born at the farm because her family worked and lived there. Roxana was always very independent and loved to work in different areas at the farm. In addition to caring for the balsamo plantation, she also loved to pick coffee. Currently she has a leadership role and she trains new farm workers. Everyday of the year no matter the weather, she gets up at dawn to start her day at the farm cleaning, mowing, fertilizing the grass and preparing compost. All this of course, after enjoying a delicious cup of coffee from Finca Montealegra. Similarly, her dad was always known as a hardworker and leader. With her efforts and leadership role at Finca Montealegre, Roxana follows her father's footsteps and is also a role model as a leader for women in her community.
