About Finca La Siberia

La Siberia is located in the Cordillera Apaneca/Ilamatepec, in the Cerro El Águila in the Department of Ahuachapán at an altitude of 1,450-1,750 msal. The farm dates back to 1874 and was inherited from father to son until it came to us. Our children are 6th generation coffee growers. Of our three children, the two boys are working with us. The farm is 40 manzanas long. We cultivate 80% café Bourbon and 20% Pacamara. In these times, we have small renovated areas with other varieties like Geisha, Kenya and Java but we always renovate at the same time the Bourbon and Pacamara that are our star crops. The coffee plot is shade-grown and the fruit is picked in its optimal ripeness. We use vermicompost, as environmentally friendly fertilizers, which flows into the coffee plants, the juices flowing into the foliage. We put the husks and pulp that come from the exported coffee around the plants to protect the soil moisture. Generally, we start to cut in December and after many reviews we finish the last bit in March.

During farming season we have 15 permanent workers and during picking season we have approximately 80 people for the season from December to March. In actuality we have 30,000 plants in the nursery that are cared for and transplanted in June and July to one of our other farms. We search for seeds from the best trees from our farm.

We work with passion and eagerness, in spite of the difficult times we endure because of climate change, lack of financial assistance, among other difficulties because we believe in COFFEE. Because of that our company is named SICAFE. (YES COFFEE)
